Jazz workshop 2017

Join us for a Jazz Workshop on June the 30th at 7:pm. The workshop will be given by Dr. Denny Euprasert on Piano Mike Dana on Guitar Damian Erskine on Bass Paolo Orlandi on Drums and Rob Thomas on Strings.


Here is a little more info on the musicians present. 


Rob Thomas: Rob Thomas is a highly regarded jazz multi-instrumentalist, fluent on violin, cello and bass.  He is a veteran of Gregg Bendian’s Mahavishnu Project, and can be heard on two critically acclaimed recordings by that adventurous repertory ensemble. Thomas has taught in the Northwest at Reed and Marylhurst Colleges, and at Cornish College of the Arts. He is currently a Professor at Berklee College of Music (Boston) and an adjunct instructor at the New School in NYC.



 Mike Dana: Since 1990, Mike Dana has been the Director of Jazz Studies at Fresno City College. At FCC, he directs the Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Combos, co-directs the Jazz Singers, and teaches jazz theory, arranging, history, and advanced improvisation.Mike’s compositions for jazz ensemble are widely performed across the United States, and are published by Alfred/Belwin, Heritage/Lorenz, Kendor, UNC Jazz Press, and Walrus Music.

Mike is also very active as an adjudicator at jazz festivals throughout the western US, and as a guest conductor of honors ensembles (most recently the All Alaska Jazz Ensemble.)



 Damian Erskine: Damian has performed with Peter Erskine, The Jaco Pastorius Big Band, Les McCann, Javon Jackson, Jeff Lorber and many others. He is an adjunct professor at Portland State University in Portland, Oregon, an instructor at Gerald Veasley's Bass Bootcamp, the National Guitar Workshop, as well as the Berklee College of Music's GuitarWeek.

He also writes articles for bass magazine as well as published his own books Right hand drive and the improviser;s path. 



Dr Denny Euprasert: Dr. Denny Euprasert is currently the Dean of Rangsit University Conservatory of Music and the Director of RSU Jazz Orchestra.  His recording project, Masterpiece: Asanee-Wason, received the Kom Chad Luek Award for Best Instrumental Album in 2008. He is the recipient of the Silpathorn Contemporary Artist Award from the Ministry of Culture for his notable contributions to fine arts and culture, one of Thailand most prestigious Honors in the Arts. His recent CD, Denny Euprasert with Benny Golson and Joris Teepe has received much international recognition.



Paolo Orlandi:  A drummer and music educator, Paolo has played with many influential Jazz artists, as well as taught university level courses on African American Music. In 2013 Paolo moved to Lebanon with his family. As an Assistant Visiting Professor at the American University of Beirut, he spearheaded the introduction of courses in African-American and Hip Hop music and created his own festival, Jazz Talks. This Festival was aimed at promoting musical culture among students and the Beirut community at large. Currently, Paolo lives with his twin daughters and wife in the Rhône-Alpes region of France, near Switzerland. He has a successful career as a free-lance musician and carries on several projects.
